ENROLLMENT REQUIRMENTS: Ages three years through fifth grade.
NECESSARY FORMS: 1. Registration and Information. 2. School entrance physical examination and immunization certification.
In addition to the above, the school administration or school director will need to see the birth certificate and social security card of each child to be enrolled.
Ivy League Academy admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national or ethnic origin.
DRESS CODE AND APPEARANCE: Overall appearance should be in keeping with the tradition of a Christian School. Children should wear a sturdy dress shoe (backless or open toes should not be worn). Boys' hair should be neatly trimmed and above-the-collar length. Boys may not wear pigtails or earrings.
All students must wear school uniforms and uniforms are furnished through Rose Uniform Co. in the Woods Corner Shopping Center in Virginia Beach, VA at 757-479-2100.
PRAYER AND PLEDGES: Classes will begin each day with the Lord's prayer, and each meal will begin with grace. The pledge of allegiance to the Bible, Christian flag, and American flag will be recited daily.
MEALS AND SNACKS: A morning and afternoon snack, and a hot lunch will be served daily. Menus will be available at the sign-in desk every two weeks. Birthday parties must be arranged with the child's instructor ahead of time. Cupcakes (no whole cakes please) and goody bags are acceptable. Ice cream in individual cups can be served. Please do not bring ice cream that must be dipped out. Only 100% juice is to be used if drinks are provided.
FIELD TRIPS: Field trips are a part of the grade school program. If you do not wish your child to attend a field trip, it is expected that you will make other arrangements for the child's care that day without a reduction in the activity fee or tuition.
NAPTIME: An afternoon naptime is provided for the preschool and kindergarten age children. Parent must furnish two small (crib-size) blankets with the child's name clearly labeled on each. Please do not bring pillows, bulky or full size blankets, or sleeping bags. The blankets will be placed in the child's cubby at the end of the week to be taken home for laundering.
DISCIPLINE: Discipline is basically positive training in the right direction. Children will not be kept inside the building for punishment if their class is outside. However, the school will not tolerate continued discipline problems. If a parent is called due to a recurring disciplinary problem, it is expected that the student will be picked up within the hour.
ILLNESS: For the welfare of the child and others in the school, a child with any of the following symptoms must be kept at home: A temperature of 99.5 degrees or more; intestinal disturbances accompanied by diarrhea or vomiting; any undiagnosed rash; sore or discharging eyes or ears; profuse nasal discharge; or a child that is too sick to participate in the full program, including outdoor activities.
ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICATION: Some medications may be administered at school if the parent or guardian completes an 'Authorization Form'. This form can be obtained through the school director or the student's teacher.
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE: All preschool children must be signed in and out each day. All school-age students must be signed out daily.
PARKING: Upon arrival, the parent must keep to the right, drive through the circle, park in the designated spaces of the parking lot, and not at the curb near the sidewalk. In order to eliminate potentially dangerous problems, it is imperative that everyone follow these procedures. Parent should use spaces along the hedge so that children are not crossing the lot to get to the vehicle. Do not use the three spaces at the head of the lot as these are for administrators only.
RESTRICTION ON CHILD PICKUPS: Children will only be released to persons listed on the parent's authorization list. Proper identification will be required until the party picking up the child becomes familiar to the staff.
ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER CHANGE: Any time an address or phone number (home or work) is changed, the school office must be notified immediately.
INSURANCE: Student accident insurance is available to those interested. This will be discussed at the Parent Orientation, or you may see the director for more info.
TUITION: It is important that tuition be paid when due, in order for the school to operate in an efficient manner. Payments that are not received by the third day after the due date will be subject to a $30.00 late fee.
RETURNED CHECKS: Checks returned for insufficient funds will be assessed a $35.00 fee. After two checks have been returned, future payments must be made with a certified check, cash, or money order.
